Back from spring break, I only have five more weeks of class until finals week. I have the worst case of spring fever and can't wait for the weather to be nice. I just want to be able to wear T-shirts and shorts again. It has truely been New England weather here in Boston lately, one day it'll be 60 and sunny and the next day will be 30 and gloomy. The rain hasn't stayed away either as I feel its rained atleast once a week for the past month.
These first two days back to class after break have been uneventful. My classes seem to be wrapping up even though theres still a few weeks left. In the admissions office things are definitely picking up. Our first showcase is this upcoming Sunday for all College of Arts and Science majors. Then on Wednesday I am traveling to Connecticut to speak with admitted students in Farmington. It's going to be close to my hometown and a few younger siblings of my friends might be there so it'll be nice to see some familiar faces! Then that next Sunday is the showcase for the Sawyer Business School which I'll be speaking at. I just found out today that I'll be able to work in the admissions office during the summer which I'm very excited about because I haven't found a steady summer job yet. I'll be able to work five days a week in the office which will be nice and then on the weekends I'm planning on going home to work at the bar I've been working at for the past two and a half years.
There's a summer Internship/Co-op Fair Thursday that I was planning on attending until I found out I could work in admissions this summer. I'll probably still go to give out resumes and cover letters since there will be over 30 different companies there. It'll be good to atleast get my name out in the business world. I've gotten a lot of responses from my mailings to companies, unfortunately none of them could hire another intern at this time. Co-ops and Internships are so important during college because when you graduate, everyone is going to have a degree. Having the experience in whatever field you're studying is what is going to set you apart from another applicant, that's why I started looking for internships this year. Most companies only hire Juniors or Seniors for internships but I thought I would give it a try. It's not the end of the world that I didn't find one, but I know I'll have to work hard next year.
Now I'm going to write my three speeches I'll be presenting in the next few weeks. Cheers!
